Step by step
Define your question
Decide what the cloud should reveal and gather comparable texts.
Prepare the content
Remove personal data, correct spelling and keep a copy of the original.
Paste into the generator
Enter the text and choose the language for common-word filtering.
Make it readable
Refine the word list, choose dimensions and select a contrasting palette.
Generate and review
Look at dominant words and compare another configuration if needed.
Export the result
Save PNG, JPG or SVG and test readability in the final material.
Preparation checklist
- Do the responses address the same subject or question?
- Have names, email addresses and sensitive details been removed?
- Have typos that would create duplicate terms been corrected?
- Should singulars, plurals and abbreviations stay separate?
- Does the filter language match the main language of the text?
Common mistakes
Too many words: an overcrowded cloud loses its hierarchy. Shorten the list or increase the dimensions.
Relying only on frequency: return to the original responses before deciding that the largest term is the most important.
Low contrast: test colors against the final background, especially when using transparency.
Mixing questions: material from unrelated contexts may produce frequencies that are difficult to interpret.
Presentation tips
Give the image a title that identifies its source, period and question. Explain that size represents repetition, and avoid assigning meaning to purely decorative colors.
In a presentation, show the cloud first and invite the audience to notice patterns. Then add excerpts, numbers or categories.
Understand the generator and the limits of frequency analysis
Check that the result is ready
Read the five largest words and ask whether they represent the material. Look for spelling variations and small terms that are hard to recognize. Make another version if you are unsure: comparing word counts, filters and shapes often reveals which configuration communicates best.
Finally, open the PNG, JPG or SVG outside the editor and test it at its actual size. This is particularly helpful for slides, posters and classroom materials.
